I posted this picture on Facebook earlier this week and emails started coming in with questions about the components of this look. I am truly flattered – thank you all, but the compliments should go to:
Pants: Comptoir des Cotonniers – great casual clothes that I used to buy in Europe a lot and still do today. My local store: Greenwich Avenue. Check out their monthly fashion lessons, where a stylist creates 3 looks based on one piece from a current collection.
Boots: made to order in Warsaw, Poland by Jan Kielman. I have to confess, I have had these boots for quite a few years but they simply do not age! I designed them myself after a boot I saw in Milan once and I have been loving them ever since. Tight-fitting boots of just the right height are notoriously hard to come by when you are 5’2″ so I splurged and it was worth all the money!
Coat: Leifsdottir. This is my go-to coat when I go out. You can dress up in 3 seconds just with this one piece. I pair it with a dress, pants, anything really and on a bad fashion day I may simply wear blue jeans and a t-shirt, put on a good pair of earrings and throw this coat over for a million bucks look. These days you can buy current collections through Anthropologie, which owns the Leifsdottir brand.
Clutch: Tory Burch. OK, so you know that I love designs to be flexible. When I design a room I always think about how your taste or needs might change 6 months from now and how I can make a space versatile. Same goes for fashion. This clutch is in fact 5 different handbags in one! It can be carried as a strapless clutch, a small over the shoulder, a large over the shoulder, a small cross body and a large cross body. Worth all the money for 5 different looks.
Hair: Adam Broderick Salon & Spa. This is my daily splurge: between frequent blow-dries, makeup applications, facials and hair cuts, I practically live at the Ridgefield salon. It’s a true oasis when you need one and a well-oiled, fast moving machine on days when you need to move quickly. Time is precious.
So here they are, the components of a look.
