So much fun yesterday visiting the 2012 Kips Bay Decorator Show House at The Aldyn Residence. A definite must see!
Here are my favorite rooms:
The Scalamandre-Zebras-clad foyer (above) is the show’s first impression. I have written about Zebras before – it’s an icon, and one of my favorites.
Lacquered walls and fabrics from Thom Filicia’s line for Kravet set the tone for this fun room.
This sitting room designed by Bunny Williams, Brian J. McCarthy and David Kleinberg Design Associates is a tribute to the one and only Mr. Albert Hadley.
This bedroom designed by Alexa Hampton is a perfect gentleman’s retreat complete with velvet loafers by Stubbs & Wooton.
The master of New American Glamour, Jamie Drake created a room that delivers both amazing colors and great textures: lacquered walls, grass cloth, silk, velvet, mirrors, glass, metal – it’s all here.
Brian del Toro’s sitting room was one of my favorites! The cool tones of green and blue are a perfect color scheme for a small and intimate space. The walls are finished in a river rock texture and venetian plaster – they fool the eye delivering a suede-upholstered look.
And last but not least, the dining room opens to a private terrace with a pool overlooking Hudson River.
