Twelve years ago I was decorating my first condo – it was a labor of love and the project that jump started my career as a designer. I had a small collection of antiques, all from a singular source of Warsaw’s greatest Sunday antique and flea market – those Sunday trips were a little tradition that my mom and I shared for many years before I left Europe.

I also bought lots of new furniture but what was missing were fun and unique accessories – things that would make my new pad special. And that’s when I turned to Red Onion – my most favorite place for great finds from all over the world. Located in an old textile factory, it was a place to find a bed from Bali, pillows from Africa and dinnerware from India. It was heaven!

So I was super excited to find out, thanks to a long-time-no-see friend and PR maven, Magda Bulera-Payne, during my last trip to Poland, that Red Onion has a second, brand new store in down town Warsaw. Located in a refurbished chocolate factory with brick walls, high ceilings, exposed air ducts and gorgeous original windows, it contains any home accessory you can dream about. I was in heaven again!

Here I am with my friend Magda Bulera-Payne at Red Onion after we enjoyed some delicious cake and tea.

At Red Onion you can browse through funky stuff for moms, dads and kids, enjoy a cup of coffee (or delicious Kusmi Tea) and home made pastries, pies and cakes – delish! Kids in tow? No problem – there is a special section and play area just for the little ones.
